Redfish
Also called: Red Drum
Redfish are the bronze backbone of flats fishing here, famous for their coppery color and the black spot on the tail. They tail in skinny water, root along oyster bars, and school up in big numbers in the fall.
Their dogged pull and willingness to eat make them a perfect target for first-timers and fly anglers alike.

How we catch Redfish
We chase reds on the flats, around oyster bars, and along the mangroves with live bait, soft plastics, and fly on inshore, nearshore, and fly trips.
On the table
A slot redfish makes excellent table fare — the classic blackened redfish. Oversized bulls are released to keep the fishery strong.
